Ipsy February 2013 Review

For this February 2013 ipsy “glam bag”, the theme this month was “Red Carpet Ready”! Kinda appropriate this month due to all the star-studded award shows that had aired on television and hopefully, according to ipsy, these products will get you ready for the lights, cameras, and action of the season. More inside!

The bag this month is made of this shiny pleather-y material with a bright red liner with the ipsy label sewn inside. I suppose all future bags will have the ipsy label now like in the past couple of months. Not my favorite bag, but it has the usual ipsy-bag quality I’ve expected.

MicaBeauty Cosmetics Black Gel Liner | Another black liner, but I’ve been really enjoying trying out different brands of gel liner. This is nicely pigmented and dark and applies smoothly. Full-sized .18 oz

Lash Card Lashcards| Curved pieces of cardboard paper mascara shields. Pack of four. I haven’t tried them yet but it’s an interesting idea.

POP Beauty Smoky Lash Kapow!!! Mascara | Yes, on the sticker on the bottom, it has three!!! exclamation points. The color is in smoky black and I haven’t tried it yet since I have a bunch of mascaras already in use. Sample size, .17 oz

Coastal Scents Mini-quad | ipsy’s second sampler of Coastal Scents eyeshadows. The colors I received this month (starting from top left, going clockwise) are Dark Goldenrod (shimmer taupe), Sunbeam (matte pastel yellow), Dark Golden Olive (shimmer dark olive), and Golden Globe (shimmer gold).

pixi Flawless & Poreless | A 15-ml tube of pixi skin primer. Primers are used to even out skin lines and minimize the appearance of pores. I’m always happy to try out different primers.

Overall, this was definitely a bag for the eyes. You have all the products to make a cat eye or a smoky look. Some people might say that this month was a little boring with another black liner and mascara and the repeat of Coastal Scents eye shadows, but I think if you’re a new subscriber, you are getting a good sample of various products and companies from ipsy. I think for the price, ipsy has really stepped up in value and quality from this time last year!
