Ipsy April 2013 Review

Ipsy is “Pretty in Pink” for April with most of the products this month featuring this rosy hue! How does this month compare overall with other ipsy bags?

Ipsy has increased or improved in its variations this month with products having a different color or even one with a different eye shadow brands.

The bag this month is white with the vinyl pink stripe on top. Inside the bag is a pink stripe print with the ipsy logo on the white. All the bags these recent months have had the ipsy logo printed somewhere on them which is a nice touch.

Sation Nail Lacquer ‘Love at First Byte’ or ‘Of Corset I’ll Call You’ | ‘Love at First Byte’ is a light peachy-pink and ‘Of Corset I’ll Call You’ is a light purplish-pink. I received ‘Love at First Byte’ which looks like a nude-pastel pink color to me. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve seen reviews of it being sheer or natural, requiring 3 coats for full coverage.

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal or Powder Play | Powder Play adds volume and texture. Soy Renewal is an Argan oil based treatment. I’m happy to have received the Soy Renewal which claims to help dry hair and reduce frizz.

Be a Bombshell blush in ‘Sweet Cheeks’ or ‘Beach Please’  | ‘Beach Please’ is a bright pink matte and ‘Sweet Cheeks’ is a medium rose with shimmer. I received ‘Sweet Cheeks’ and it feels soft and looks nicely pigmented. The color appears on me as a bright pink on me with a slight sheen.

MicaBeauty Mineral Eyeshadow ‘Earth’ or Two Cosmetics Eye shadow Duo ‘Heartache’ | I received the beige-pink Mica Shimmer powder in ‘Earth’. It looks like it would be great for highlighting, but I haven’t tested it out yet since loose powders are messy to work with on your face.

Overall, I really liked this month’s bag, even though it only had four beauty products inside. As a recent lover of pink, I thought the theme is month was kinda cute and the size of samples (mostly full-sized) to be a great value. The only complaint that I can foresee is that ipsy is definitely repeating brands (MicaBeauty, Be a Bombshell, Sexy Hair) and type of products (neutral nail polishes and loose eye shadows, etc), but I still think the quality and size of products still make ipsy a great service for those looking to build a good collection or try out various products in the same brands.
