Blush aka Blush.com Mystery Beauty box is a monthly box, costing $24.95 for a monthly subscription or $34.95 for a one-time box. Each box is valued to contain over $100 worth of products that vary from hair, makeup, and skincare (usually).
Blush changed from its usual packaging (which was none!) to having a new branded drawstring bag to hold your products and a postcard with the product listing (like BB or Glossybox) with detail about your items.
This month was a little different, in that Blush has partnered up with the jewelry seller Baublebar to give out 1 of 3 bracelet designs. This month had six products + one bonus sample.
Products in May 2013 Mystery Box:
Skylark Wild & Free Mini Nail Lacquer Set | $29 | The retail price is a bit pricey for a set of four mini nail polishes (.3 fl. oz each) but the value of them already exceeded the monthly subscription price. The colors are bright creamy pastels; perfect for summer!
The colors are
- Jelly Shot – bright coral
- B-Days in Cabo – hot pink
- Sea Glass – minty green
- Dreamcatcher – muted lavender
A little hard to apply, but nice colors!
Nick Chavez Advanced Volume Conditioner | $24 | On the website, it says that this conditioner is made for fine hair. Contains Keratin, Soy Protein, Acai Berry and UV Protectants and claims not to weigh down hair
B. Kamins BB Cream | Full-size $49 Sample value $14.41 | Can be used as a primer and has a lightly tinted beige color. I tried it out on my hand and it feels pretty light and smooth. Has a slight sunscreen-y scent, but not pungent or distracting at all.
Matches pretty well, blends out smoothly too.
Cailyn Cosmetics Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner in Chocolate Mousse | $21 | Interesting packaging! The top contains a hidden brush, and it’s not like the usual skinny liner brushes. It’s a little thicker and flat, and it has soft but not flimsy bristles. Chocolate Mousse is a brown color.
You can see how the brush pops out from the lid. Pretty neat, eh?
Baublebar Bracelet: White Skull Wrap | $12-18 | I like this bracelet! The skull charm is made of clear crystals and the eye sockets have black crystals. The charm is not very big and distracting, so it would be fun to layer the bracelet with other pieces. I like how it is has a gold chain core which is wrapped with the white thread, so it feels sturdier than just an usual embroidered friendship bracelet.
It came in a tiny bag with a card for 20% off the Baublebar website.
CoTZ Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 | Full-size $20 Sample value $1.41 | I received this same sample in my Birchbox this month. It’s nice having extra SPF products, but I wish it would’ve been a bigger sample.
Total Estimated Value = $101.82 to $107.82
Bonus sample: Tocca Crema da Corpo Body Lotion in Giulietta | Composed of Pink Tulip and Green Apple essences. I haven’t tried Tocca Beauty products before, but I have admired their scent combinations from afar.
Overall, the box just barely surpassed its estimated value, but not a bad selection of products. Having a $100 value for just $25 is not bad at all! I like that there were three full-sized products, but wish that the CoTZ would’ve been travel-sized, not a sample. Very minor complaint though. The quality of the products seem top-notch.
Value: 8/10
Products: 8/10 (I probably wouldn’t use the conditioner, I like the BB cream when I tested it on my hand, nail polish tricky to apply)

I loved that bb! I think I am going to save it for travel though, because my dr jart is kinda big for a zip lock for security.
Cheers,
